what is life coaching?

In essence, a life coach helps you to move from where you are to where you want to be. 

 

If you have practical goals, such as running the marathon or losing ten kilos, then there are clear practical steps you can take. Still, you may wonder why you were too lazy to train, why you raided the fridge again. What else is going on beyond those practical steps?

 

I work with people who are unhappy at work. That almost always goes much deeper than practical goals. Why does your work feel pointless? Why do you suffer so much from your difficult boss or colleague? Why is it so hard to cope with the pressure of work and why do you find it difficult to say no?

 

In my life coaching I therefore work on different levels.

  • On an existential level - What do you want to do with your life? What do you find important?

  • On a psychological level - How do your thoughts and emotions work? How do they help you? When do they bother you?

  • On a practical level - What can you do to actually reach your goals?

 

With life coaching on three levels, you don't get stuck with practical steps that you can't keep up in the long run. You will achieve real, profound change, which will make things happen that you had not thought possible.

the existential level

What is a good life? What do you want to do with your life, what is your purpose? These are fundamental questions for your happiness at work and in life, but they are often difficult to answer. 

 

Coaching is the place to look for answers to these questions. By really taking the time to talk about them and by being asked questions that stimulate you, you gradually get more structure in your thoughts and you come to completely new insights.

 

We can also do exercises that will put you in a different mindset and create a profile of the things that make your heart beat faster.

the psychological level

Why do you block when you want to take new steps? Why do you lie awake because of your difficult manager or colleague? Why do you find it difficult to say no?

 

We all have characteristics that sometimes bother us. Almost everyone worries and many people have strong emotions from time to time, also when it comes to work. How can you best deal with that? How can you make sure that these qualities do not get in the way of achieving your goals?

 

With a coach, you can explore these characteristics, understand them better, give them a place in your life and deal with them better.

the practical level

Then there are the practical steps. How do you write a good CV? What is the best way to approach a difficult conversation? How can you sleep better?

 

Your coach will help you take the practical steps that will enable you to achieve your goal, so that you can be happy in your work again and realise your dreams.
